October is flying by, but there’s still time to enjoy all the spooky and seasonal activities Putnam County has to offer! Whether you’re looking for family-friendly festivities or a good scare, we’ve rounded up some last-minute events and activities happening in and around Putnam County. Don’t let Halloween pass you by without soaking in some fall fun!


1. Greencastle’s Halloween on the Square

  • Date: October 28, 2024

  • Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

  • Location: Courthouse Square, Greencastle

  • Admission: Free Celebrate Halloween in the heart of downtown Greencastle with trick-or-treating at local businesses, costume contests, and plenty of treats for kids. There will be music, face painting, and a few spooky surprises for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t forget your costumes!


2. Cloverdale Pumpkin Festival

  • Date: October 26-27, 2024

  • Location: Cloverdale Town Park

  • Admission: Free The Cloverdale Pumpkin Festival is a fantastic way to wrap up your fall fun. With a pumpkin decorating contest, hayrides, and a mini-corn maze for kids, this event is a must for families. Vendors will offer seasonal treats and local crafts, making it a perfect fall weekend outing.


3. Putnam County Trail Scavenger Hunt

  • Location: Various nature trails around Putnam County

  • Admission: Free Take advantage of the crisp fall air and beautiful foliage with a self-guided scavenger hunt on Putnam County’s scenic trails. Each trail features clues and markers to guide you on a fun adventure while enjoying nature. Great for families or anyone who loves exploring the outdoors.


4. Apple Picking & Cider Tasting at Anderson Orchard

  • Date: Daily throughout October

  • Location: Anderson Orchard, Mooresville (just a short drive from Putnam County)

  • Admission: Free entry, pay for apples by the pound Enjoy a classic fall day with apple picking at Anderson Orchard. After filling your basket with fresh apples, sample some of their homemade cider. The orchard also offers hayrides, caramel apples, and baked goods in their farm store. It’s the perfect activity for a crisp fall day.


5. Putnam County Library’s Spooky Storytime

  • Date: October 30, 2024

  • Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

  • Location: Putnam County Library, Greencastle

  • Admission: Free Gather around for a fun and slightly spooky storytime at the Putnam County Library. Kids can come in their costumes and listen to Halloween-themed stories, play games, and enjoy light refreshments. A perfect event for younger children looking for a not-so-scary Halloween experience.
